Our Client, a leader in the farming community, requires a Grower to join their team. Reporting to the Farm Business Manager the Grower will be responsible for producing high quality fruit by determining the best growth strategy per crop type per field.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree: Agriculture/Horticulture
- 3 Years Production experience. Preferably growing soft vegetables and or fruit: Tomatoes, Gooseberry, Blackberry, Table Grapes
- MS Office Advanced
- Excellent report writing skills
- Driving licence with own transport
Responsibilities:
- Fertigation and irrigation as per field
- Plan, action, orientate and monitor staff
- Procurement of all material and equipment
- Establish and action maintenance plan of all equipment
- Plan, coordinate, monitor and adjust husbandry strategy per crop
- Determine applicable cropping system per day, per crop
- Manage Tunnel operations and maintenance according to strategic plan to ensure climate control
- Action tunnel management activities according to climatic changes (venting/de-venting)
- Monitor fields and develop appropriate spray program to minimize pest infestations
- Procure services within relevant department to meet specific deadlines and outcomes
- Implementation of biological pest and disease control measures
- Develop, implement and monitor effective pollination strategy per field per crop,
- Ensure safety standards are adhered to
- Develop, implement and monitor effective field maintenance program per field per crop resulting in neat blocks

Salary: R30,000.00 - R40,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Mossel Bay, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Experience:
- Grower experience in soft veg & fruit: 3 years (Required)
